3.4.1 Roll media loading

Loading procedure of the roll media is explained.
Use the exclusive scroller included with this printer for roll media loading.

The following roll media can be loaded on the scroller included with this printer.
Media tube diameter: three inches, outside diameter of media: 150 mm or less, weight: 19 kg or less

Load the roll media as shown in the following procedure.

Set the roll media on an even surface such as desk etc.
If the roll media is set in such a way that the scroller is standing vertical, there is a possibility that the scroller might get damaged.
1Set the roll media in the scroller, so that the roll media gets winded up anti clockwise direction when viewing from fixed flange.
2Push the roll media until its core hits the right edge of the fixed flange.

3Attach the movable flange so that it is firmly attached to the roll media core.

4Set the scroller to the scroller receiver so that the fixed flange is on the ink cartridge slot side.

3.4.2 Loading roll media

Loading roll media is explained.

Set the roll media as shown in the following procedure.

1Turn ON the printer.

Do not operate the media loading lever during initial operation. The carriage portion may touch the pressurizing roller portion causing a malfunction.
2The printer starts initial operation.
"Media End" is displayed on the operation panel.
3Push the media loading lever backward.
"Lever Up" is displayed on the operation panel.

4Set the roll media to the media feed slot.
If the roll media end gets loosen, perform loading after properly winding the media.

5Open the front cover, and pull out the roll media.

6Wind back the roll media with scroller while pressing down the media edge, remove bending and slant of the media.

If it is not straight when loading the new roll media, cut the front edge of the roll media. For roll media cutting method, refer to "4.4.3 Cut media".

The operation panel displays the media type setup menu.
For changing the media type, set the media type as shown in "3.4.3 Setting media type".

3.4.3 Setting media type

Setting of media type is explained.

Set the media type as shown in the following procedure.

1Turn ON the printer and load media.

After the media is loaded, the display shifts to the media type setup menu.
Refer to the followings for media loading.

2Press the [+] key or [–] key to select the type of the loaded media.

3Press the [Enter] key on the operation panel.

Media type is determined.
The operation panel displays "Media Initial", and media initial operation starts.
If the following operations are performed in the media type setup menu, the printer starts media initial operation without setting a media type.
Pressing the [Cancel] key on the operation panel.
Not performing key operations on the operation panel for 10 seconds.
4After media initial operation is completed, the operation panel displays "Ready to Print", and the display shifts to Normal.
5When using the roll media, wind back the roll media tightening with the scroller and the media slackness is tightened.
