4.4 Operating from the operation panel

Various functions which can be operated from operation panel are described.

For names and functions of each key, refer to "2.2.3 Operation panel".

4.4.1 Media feed

When roll media is set, it can be fed to any position.

According to the following procedure, feed media.

When sheet media is set, even if the [Forward↓] key or [Backward↑] key on the operation panel is pressed, media feed cannot be performed.
1Check that the operation panel is Normal.
2Check that the media loading lever is returned to the front side.
3Press the [Forward↓] key or the [Backward↑] key on the operation panel.

Media is fed forward or backward.
4Release the [Backward↑] key or [Forward↓] key on the operation panel after feeding media to the desired position.

4.4.2 Stopping printing operation

If you want to stop printing operation for some reasons, operate as follows.

1Stop sending printing data from the computer to the printer.
2Press the [Cancel] key on the operation panel.

Terminate printing and delete a file of the remaining data in the printer.
Receiving/converting
Delete the received/analyzed data, and delete a file of subsequent data.
If a large amount of data is saved on the printer, the operation panel may not return to normal status by a single [Cancel] key operation.
In such cases, wait for a few seconds and press the [Cancel] key again.

4.4.3 Cut media

This sub-section explains how to cut roll media.

When printing is finished, the media guide is at high temperature. Wait until the media guide cools off.

According to the following procedure, cut roll media.

1Regarding the operating condition of the printer, confirm the following.
Printing or other operations are not performed.
Make sure that the display on the operation panel shows the normal state.
2If the roll media cut position is changed, refer to "4.4.1 Media feed" and advance the roll media to the desired cut position.
3Place a razor blade on the media cut groove on the media guide, and cut the roll media.
Pay attention to the following points when you cut roll media. Mishandling the razor blade may cause a cut on your finger or hand.
When you hold media, do not place your finger on the media cut groove.
Move the razor blade along the media cut groove.

Cutting roll media is complete.
If it is not straight when loading the new roll media, cut the front edge of the roll media.

4.4.4 Changing and confirming set values while printing

While the printer is operating, you can change or confirm set values for the Panel setup menu.

4.4.4.1 Procedure for changing and confirming set values while printing

Follow the steps below to change or confirm set values for the Panel setup menu.

1Confirm that the printer is in the following operations.
Receiving
Converting
Printing
Warming Up
2Press the [Menu] key on the operation panel.

The operation panel displays "Menu 1: Print Start".
3Press the [+] key or [–] key to change or confirm set values.
For the setting items that the set values can be changed or confirmed, refer to "4.4.4.2 Set values that can be changed or confirmed while printing".

4.4.4.2 Set values that can be changed or confirmed while printing

The Print start menu is displayed only when the printer is warming up.
When you change the set value during operation, be sure to select "Backup" to save the changed value.
If the printer returns to normal status without "Backup" being selected, the changed value is not saved.
